In a do-or-die match with South Africa, India won by 8 wickets and confirmed its berth in semifinal in a grand way. South Africa batting first made 191 runs for loss of all wickets. Although the South Africa looked good with 76 runs partnership of Q de Kock and Amla, with loosing of Amla to Ashwin the destruction started. Later the attack was carried forward by Jadeja and Bhuvaneswar. The biggest damage to South Africa was done in the form of 3 run outs,where AB de Villiers, Millers and Tahir lost their wickets. With loss of Devilliers and Millers South Africa looked in no way to recover and fight back on Indian bowling attack, even though Duminy was still batting.
In chasing the 199 total, India lost opener Rohit Sharma very early at 23 runs only. Later Shikar Dhawan and Virat Kohil played in very composed way, showing no signs of hurry. Shikar Dhawan led the attack from the front by took away the game from South Africa with his 78 runs. Though he lost his wicket, Yuvaraj and Kohli finished the game easily. Virat Kohli, though looked not comfortable with South African pace attack, was able to make 76 runs. with this win, India reserved its berth in semifinals with this win. Indian bowling attack deserves the complete credit for India securing their position in Semifinals.
